Dr. Paul Hyder will be the guest speaker at the October 21 Greater Big Bend Coalition meeting at 11:00 am at the Northeast Regional Command Center on Dyer Street in El Paso.
Hyder is a New Mexico native and has been involved in environmental education, both formally at New Mexico State University where he worked for the USDA/ARS/Jornada Experimental Range and at Eastwood High School. He also provides classes and field experiences for the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Master Naturalist Program, Celebration of Our Mountains, and various other civic groups. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. at NMSU where he studied rattlesnakes and plant ecology, respectfully. Dr. Hyder is an avid musician, photographer and artist and co-authored “Snakes, Lizards, Turtles, Frogs, Toads, and Salamanders of New Mexico – A Field Guide”.
